Market Update - Reputation management

The importance of reputation management was brought home to me when we were asked to perform a critical intervention on a business critical project that was heading to failure at a leading organisation.Having been called into a difficult review meeting at the office of a very senior and highly respected individual within the organisation, I was reassured that once he had addressed our client director and project sponsor, he turned to me to say that he had understood our capability in delivery and had confirmed my reputation. We progressed the discussion on a direct one-to-one basis and agreed five concessions to the outline brief that would under our direction guarantee delivery. We delivered within the revised dates within fifty percent of the programmed timelines and saved a third off the budget. The client did what they did best working alongside the client they researched and interviewed us whilst focusing on the end result. With our links in the media sector, we were able to do the same. Perhaps that is the benefit of having a reputation and the privilege to work with one of the best talents in the journalism and broadcasting field! You can read what they said about us on our website: www.adamiangroup.com/testimonials.If you would like some free advice in this area, feel free to contact us at 0844 800 5220 or info@adamiangroup.com.

Market Update - How to engage the top talent

In the consultancy world we are often asked to deliver some exceptionally difficult assignments.I can relate to the client, who helped me make it to the cherished and sometimes feared upper banding of ‘trouble-shooter’. Having been introduced to an individual who had been recognised by his peers as being at the top of his field, I was reassured to be offered the ‘tea and biscuits’ dialogue that made this client instantly recognisable as a high performer. There was no tick list, no can you explain how many of these projects you have done under this initiative in this geographic area, in these twelve months! Instead I met an individual who had taken the time to read the CVs put in front of him and understood the capability of the individuals and the strengths and weaknesses. (Despite what some consultants will have you believe, we all have weaknesses). The client avoided; unnecessary bureaucracy, delegated reporting, extended hierarchy, dictating orders, micro-management, rigid long hours (burn out is the enemy here), inappropriate meetings and training courses, creation of barriers to individuals or information.Instead we had an open and honest dialogue where the situation was explained, my broader expertise was applied, and we agreed realistic goals, an end target and milestones. We had agreed open-discussion review dates. I was given the recognition required both within the organisation and with its partners, given the freedom of access and resources necessary to enable success. But most importantly an opportunity to connect on a regular basis.Needless to say we ensured the client achieved all their individual business objectives as well as supporting the board and delivering well within parameters. As a result of our work our client and their parent organisations gained the recognition as the leaders in their respective areas in the UK.So whilst the title and life as a trouble-shooter is earnt rather than given, and not earnt lightly, it is important to remember that those of us that have gained the title are not purely hired guns to seek and destroy. We have proven to be a safe pair of hands across a range of professional engagements and not only in specific change or restructuring projects, but also work in the ’regular’ consulting assignments of strategy implementation, operations, programme management and project management. We ensure that clients maintain position in strategies and delivery, with the knowledge that potentials difficulties can be determined before they create an issue to produce highly favourable consequences. If you would like some free advice in this area, feel free to contact us at 0844 800 5220 or info@adamiangroup.com.

Market Update - Difficult Decisions in Human Resources?

When we first hear of a downturn, we think about making cuts in resources. One of the first areas considered is often reductions in staff.Certain organisations have in good times and bad, treated staff funding as a project on-cost and often as a limitation to profit. But what about corporate headcount?Would a restructuring of an organisation in an economic downturn based upon current deliverables enable the organisation to increase capacity and grow when the opportunities arise and the timing is right? The answer here, perhaps surprisingly to some is yes.Internal resource will remain core to most businesses. External consultants can bring in new ideas, particularly around strategy, however the use of an in-house consulting practice with specialists in your business, experienced at working with you and able to work effectively alongside you, can be the key to succeeding in bringing in adding value.Organisations do need to limit expenditure. So how do practices such as Adamian group specialising in in-house consulting work?Well there is another option to weathering the storm. Few win races purely on waiting and reacting. Those that appear to do and make it look easy have put the time in with experts behind the scenes. Many more lose out to the competition by making the mistake of not preparing, recognising the opportunity for or taking decisive action. Our clients are high performers who recognise that opportunities to enhance their position always exist and with the discrete support of a specialist practice, market conditions can be utilised to harness this force to progress. Think of a boat. When the wind changes do you fight against it, let if drift you along in a direction that sets you back, or harness it to make progress. The wind changes constantly. Why settle for a strategy or an extra body when you can bring in a specialist practice that understands your business that works with you and alongside you to get you where you want to go.Gaining the competitive advantage early has regularly proven to offer the opportunity to lead from the front. We do this. However, we can also store up the momentum by taking a strategic lead opening out the opportunity to take the win together when it counts most!So if you would like to take advantage, why not make the decision to early and give us the opportunity to help you!If you would like some free advice in this area, feel free to contact us at 0844 800 5220 or info@adamiangroup.com.

Market Update - Further reductions in ALMOs

It was announced that Hillingdon would follow Ealing decision to terminate its relationship with its ALMO, Hillingdon Homes. The authority will now consult with tenants and leaseholders on the way forward. Given a positive vote this could result in the 14,000 or so properties being taken into the control of the local authority with in-house services from March 2011.This follows a decision at Stockton Council to transfer the ALMO housing stock to a housing association and Rochdale Councils decision to establish an independent commission to review the future of its housing stock, currently under the management of Rochdale Borough wide Housing. It would also appear that changes are afoot at Westminster Council, where a decision has been made to change its managerial agreement to make its ALMO CityWest Homes ‘more like a private company’.Interestingly, Colber’s work alongside the then CEO to prepare for the inspection of CityWest Homes was pivotal to the award of the three-star excellent status. The City of Westminster then went onto gain four star status and City Council of the Year.If you would like some free advice in this area, feel free to contact us at 0844 800 5220 or info@adamiangroup.com.
